Philosophy
Emily’s perspective on counseling stems from their belief that the best way to steward mental health is to address the systems that oppress people and work towards a world where people feel valued, respected, and autonomous. Thus, Emily’s approach includes anti-racism, anti-fatphobia, and anti-ableism. In practice, Emily employs a person-centered approach, collaborating with you to foster an environment for growth and healing to happen. Depending on your individual needs, therapeutic approaches will vary and may include Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Dialectical Behavior Therapy (TF-DBT), Brainspotting, mindfulness, and narrative therapy.
Emily strives to foster an environment where clients feel safe to explore mental healing, process their current and past reality, and grow towards a better understanding of themselves.
Joy
Emily finds joy in being in nature, reading, creating poetry and collages, and spending time with loved ones.
