Sydney Mohnasky
Sydney Mohnasky, MSW, LCSWA
Background
Sydney (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate (LCSWA) and a graduate of CAS’ Fellowship Training Program. She has experience helping individuals who struggle with eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and trauma. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural Studies and a Bachelor of Social Work from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Ohio, Sydney obtained her Master of Social Work Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Sydney has extensive experience in the treatment of eating disorders and is in the process of becoming a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist. She also has advanced training in Perinatal Mood Disorders and co-leads CAS’ free support group, “Bump, Birth, & Beyond.” She enjoys working with people of all ages and is especially passionate about providing care for adolescents and young adults.
Philosophy
Sydney believes a trustworthy, non-judgmental relationship between therapist and client is foundational to the therapeutic process. She strives to provide the space for her clients to better understand themselves and the issues they face, while discovering new ways to live in alignment with their values and identities. Sydney draws on an eclectic variety of approaches to address her clients’ needs, including insight oriented models like Psychodynamic Theory, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness practices.
Joy
Sydney finds joy in spending time with her family, playing in orchestras, and drinking quality coffee.
